Hamas responsible for rocket attack from Gaza
Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, on Monday claimed responsibility for rocket fire targeting southern Israel.
The group said in a statement that the joint command of Palestinian factions announced the beginning of new bombardments of enemy settlements with scores of rockets.
The Israel Defense Force said that Palestinian mortar fire from the Gaza Strip destroyed a bus on the Israeli side of the border on Monday, wounding at least one person. Israeli television channels showed the bus engulfed in flames and black smoke billowing into the sky, as well as flashes of light where explosions marked rocket interceptions by Israel's Iron Dome air defense system.
Israeli aircraft had previously bombarded the Hamas-affiliated Al-Aqsa TV headquarters in Gaza, destroying the station and damaging other nearby structures. There has been no report of casualties.
