On 9, the Hanoi People’s Committee held a press conference to provide information on the socio-economic situation in August 2022. According to information provided by the City People’s Committee at the press conference, in August and the first 8 months of 2022, the city’s major economic balance targets are guaranteed. Total state budget revenue in the area, estimated to be realized by the end of August, is VND 223 trillion , reaching 71.6% of the estimate, equaling 110.5% over the same period. Total local budget expenditure, estimated to be realized until August, is VND43 trillion, reaching 40.3% of the estimate for the year, equaling 110.1% over the same period.
Export turnover in August was estimated at US$1.4 billion, up 10% over the same period. The cumulative in the first 8 months of the year of export turnover is estimated at $11.1 billion, up 32.4% over the same period in 2021. Business performance indicators in August 2022 increased sharply over the same period, the economy continue to actively recover and develop well. In which, the index of industrial production (IIP) in August increased by 0.9% compared to July 2022, and 15.7% compared to August 2021. Cumulative IIP in the first 8 months of 2022 increased by 8.3%. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services accumulated in the first eight months of the year reached VND451 trillion, up 29% over the same period.
Attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) is promoted. In the first 8 months of 2022, the city attracted $992.4 million of FDI capital, of which, registered 226 new projects with a capital of $141.3 million; 122 times of capital increase with the total registered capital increased by $374.6 million and 258 times of capital contribution with the total capital of $476.2 million.
Besides, the city also attracted domestic and foreign investment, including 15 new projects with a capital of VND31.4 trillion. Also in the first 8 months of 2022, the city has granted business registration certificates to 20,023 enterprises with a capital of VND226 trillion (an increase of 22% in the number of enterprises and an increase of 2% in registered capital over the same period in the same period last year).
Notably, the number of domestic visitors to Hanoi (served by accommodation establishments) in August was estimated at 148 thousand arrivals, equivalent to July and an increase of 45.3% compared to August 2021. In 8 months, domestic visitors to Hanoi reached 956 thousand arrivals, up 83.6%. International visitors to Hanoi (served by accommodation establishments) in August were estimated at 132,000 arrivals, an increase of 22.2% compared to July 2022 and an increase of 18.5 times compared to August 2021. Accumulating 8 months, international arrivals to Hanoi are estimated at 477 thousand, an increase of nearly 3 times over the same period. Revenue from hotels and restaurants reached VND57 trillion, up 1.2 times.
Regarding fire prevention and fighting issues, especially at Karaoke service business establishments, Chief of Office of the City People’s Committee Truong Viet Dung informed that the City People’s Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 04/CD-UBND, dated September 9/ September 2022, directing units to strengthen inspection, review and strictly handle violations of fire prevention regulation of Karaoke establishments. In which, it is emphasized that for in case of violations at karaoke, bar, and disco businesses, they would be ordered to shut down.
Major General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the City Public Security said, the City Police always receive the close direction of the Ministry of Public Security, the City Party Committee and the City People’s Committee in their work. Every year, the City Police have a plan to coordinate with localities to inspect, review and strictly handle business establishments that violate conditions on fire prevention and fighting. However, many cases do not strictly comply and operate stealthily when they do not meet the fire prevention and fighting conditions.
