HCM City leader hosts Cambodian Deputy PM
As Vietnam's major economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City has treasured and made all-out efforts to promote cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia, including relations between the city and Cambodian localities, a municipal official said.
At a reception for visiting Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sar Kheng on January 9, Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said over the past time, partnerships between the city and Cambodian localities, including Phnom Penh capital city, have been tightened through delegation exchanges.
HCM City wishes to maintain delegation exchanges between agencies and organizations of the two countries, and increase cooperation projects in agriculture, transportation and waste treatment, he said
Phong stressed that HCM City is willing to share its experience with Cambodian localities in sustainable urban building, management and development, and climate change response, contributing to the fine neighborliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation between the two countries.
The official used the occasion to congratulate Cambodia on achievement the country has recorded over the past time, and the Cambodian People's Party on its victory in the sixth general election last July.
For his part, Sar Kheng spoke highly of HCM City's hosting the tenth meeting on cooperation and development between border provinces of Vietnam and Cambodia.
He thanked Vietnam for its wholehearted and effective support to Cambodia over the past 40 years, saying Cambodia wishes to build long-term and effective cooperation with Vietnam, including HCM City, thus bringing pragmatic interests to people of both sides.
The Deputy PM also highlighted HCM City's cooperation and support to Cambodian localities, especially Phnom Penh, and expressed his hope for more assistance from the Vietnamese city across fields.
