HCM City, Osaka strengthen cooperation

VGP  – Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee  Le Hoang Quan has recently received  Vice Mayor of Osaka city (Japan) Seigo Tanaka and his entourage who was on a working visit to the city.

Chairman Quan briefed his guest on the city’s socio-economic situation and highlighted the fine cooperation between his city and Japanese localities including Osaka, particularly in economy and education.

The chairman said the city has largely been affected by climate change and pollution, thus it looks for more support, cooperation, and experience sharing from Osaka city.

He believed that the delegation’s visit to Ho Chi Minh City will open up new opportunities for cooperation between the two localities, contributing to improving the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, Mr. Seigo Tanaka said Osaka city has studied the investment environment and conditions in infrastructure, economy, and education in Ho Chi Minh City.

The two cities should expand infrastructure development cooperation, said Mr. Seigo Tanaka, proposing the construction of an underground trade center at Ben Thanh market underground station.

Japan is the largest provider of ODA for Viet Nam and one of the leading foreign investors with 2,300 projects worth over $35 billion./.
