High-ranking Vietnamese military delegation attends ACDFM 16 in Thailand

PANO - A high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation led by Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army and Deputy Defense Minister, is attending the 16th ASEAN Chiefs of Defense Forces' Meeting (ACDFM 16) in Thailand.

Vietnam's participation at the event aims to promote its role and position in the region and the world. Through multilateral military and defense forums, the country affirms its foreign policy of multilateralization and diversification as well as its activeness, proactiveness, and responsibility in international integration. Exchanges and meetings at the 16th ACDFM will also help strengthen bilateral defense cooperation between Vietnam and other ASEAN member states.

During the event, Vietnam expressed its support for Thailand's Chairmanship of ASEAN and gained the support of ASEAN member countries for Vietnam to be ASEAN chair in 2020.

Within the meeting's framework, Vietnam will receive the mission as the 17th ACDFM's Chair in 2020.
