HN: CPI surges sharply in September

VGP – Ha Noi’s consumer price index (CPI) in September saw a month-on-month increase of 0.51% and a year-on-year surge of 3.26%, according to the Municipal Statistics Office.

The local experts attributed the CPI surge to an 8.55% increase in the education fees at universities and colleges in accordance with the roadmap approved by the PM.

The rising costs of restaurant and food services ranked second with a price hike of 0.31%.

Meanwhile, out of the 11 groups of commodities calculated, only two saw declining prices including housing, electricity, water, fuel (0.91%) and transport (1.96%).

In the ninth month, gold prices declined by 1.65%. The price of the US dollar also experienced a month-on-month decrease of 0.09%./.
