Ho Chi Minh City funds cataract surgery for poor patients

Ho Chi Minh City's Sponsoring Association for Poor Patients over the past 22 years has raised funds to help perform cataract surgeries for 600,000 poor people. The Association's Chairman Tran Thanh Long told a ceremony to mark the 600,000th free eye operation on Sunday that in 1997 the first 100 poor patients received free eye surgery and escaped from blindness. He added the number of recipients has increased sharply and the Association will continue sponsoring eye surgery for poor patients.
