Ho Chi Minh city’s foreign affairs performs well in 2017

Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has called on Ho Chi Minh city to continue to lead other localities in foreign affairs.

At the municipal Department for Foreign Affairs' year-end meeting to review this year's performance and set out next year's tasks on Friday, Mr. Son said Ho Chi Minh city need to expand relations with foreign partners, boost trade, investment, and tourism, make practical contributions to achieving the political, social, and economic goals, and continue to be an integral part of Vietnam's diplomacy.

The meeting was told that 2017 is the successful year for the city's foreign policy. The city hosted the APEC Year events, celebrations of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN, the 55th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Amity and Cooperation Treaty. Ho Chi Minh city welcomed 115 international delegations and hosted 260 receptions and external events.
