Hundreds of students participate in Southern technical contest

PANO � The Ministry of Education and Training, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Municipal People's Committee, launched a nation-level scientific and technical contest for students in Southern localities on March 16.

The three-day contest drew the participation of over 400 students from 34 schools. As many as 229 projects, including 191 of high-schoolers and 38 of secondary students, were introduced at the competition.

The projects were related to several major fields, such as animal science, behavioral and social sciences, biochemistry, biomedical and health science, and so on.

The contest was organized to encourage students to take part in scientific research and technical innovations, as well as applying their knowledge in reality.

The forth Industrial Revolution is changing the educational and training sector, requiring both teachers and students to shift their methods, in learning, teaching and evaluating, said Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc. Therefore, the competition offered a great opportunity to teachers and students to help them boost self-study, enrich knowledge and acquire skills, he noted.

This is the seven consecutive year that the Ministry of Education and Training has held the nation-level competition for students across the country. According to the organizers, this year's event attracted 481 projects in 21 fields.

Excellent projects will be selected to take part in the international technical contest in the US in May.
