Huzaifa, Zoha win singles titles

Huzaifa Abdul Rehman and Zoha Asim won single titles in Boys and Grils categories in the first leg of ATF Pakistan 14 & Under Super Series Tennis Championships here on Friday.

Due to heavy rain the finals were shifted to an indoor facility owned by Nasir Jaffar at Chak Shahzad Farms.

In the Boys Singles Final top seed Huzaifa Abdul Rehman who outplayed second seed Hamza Bin Rehan in straight sets at the score of 7-6 (6), 6-2. Huzaifa is also leaving for Vietnam tomorrow to take part in Asian Division 1st Asian Circuit which will commence from 13th March there.

Similarly, in the Girls Singles Final Zoha Asim who specifically flew from Dubai, UAE, to take part in the Championships, beat Rida Khan in a marathon 3-set match. Zoha won with the score line of 7-5, 1-6, 6-4. The match took almost 2 hours to complete.

Salim Saifullah Khan, President, Pakistan Tennis Federation, was the chief guest. Muhammad Khalid Rehmani, Secretary PTF, Major (Retd) Rashid Khan, former secretary PTF, national and international coaches, Mahboob Khan, Hameed-ul-Haq, and Inamul Haq, and Col (retd) Gul Rehman, PTF Complex Administrator, were also present.

Syed Omer, Malaysian Coach, and Minal Cooray (Sri Lankan player's mother and coach) were full of praise for the hospitality provided to them by the PTF throughout the Tournament. Arif Qureshi, ITF White Badge Chair Umpire, was the Referee of the event.

Salim Saifullah Khan thanked all the national and international participants for making this event a great success. He announced to hold at least four ATF events next year. He also announced to hold two Asian Tennis Tour Men's professional championships this year.

Each tournament will carry US$5000 as cash prize. He hoped that these professional events will attract large number of Asian professional players to participate.
