IMF lowers its forecast of global growth

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday released its World Economic Outlook report for 2019, which lowers the forecast of global economic growth to 3% for 2019 and 3.4 % for 2020.

According to the report, the world economy is growing at its weakest pace since the global financial crisis in 2008-2009 as escalating trade conflicts reduce the confidence of investors and business. The IMF warns that the global economy is going through a period of slowing and uncertainty. IMF chief economist Gita Gopinath says the global economic outlook right now is very uncertain.
