IS claims deadly Libya checkpoint attack

The Islamic State (IS) on Saturday claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack on a security checkpoint in the western Libyan city of Zliten, which killed six soldiers.

In an interview Saturday with Libya's private al-Ahrar broadcaster, the unity government's Interior Minister Abdelsalam Ashour said "the perpetrators of the attack were apprehended", without specifying how many people were arrested. All arrested are Libyan citizens and members of the IS.
