IS fully withdraws from Syria’s Aleppo province

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said IS withdrew from 17 towns and villages and is now effectively outside of Aleppo province.

Regime forces had been advancing on a sliver of southeastern Aleppo province around a key highway linking Hama province to the southwest and Raqa province further east.

After a mass exodus in recent years, more people are returning to Syria this year, according to data cited Friday by the United Nations' refugee agency. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees issued a report Friday that said nearly 500,000 have returned home this year to check on family or property and perceived improvement of the security situation in the war-torn Middle Eastern nation.
