IS loses last stronghold in Aleppo

The Syrian army and allied fighters on Sunday captured the last Islamic State (IS) stronghold in Aleppo province.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Syrian army and fighters of Hezbollah, backed by Russia, entered the town of Maskanah, the last IS stronghold in Aleppo province. Capturing Maskanah was the latest in a string of successful operations by the army and its allies to liberate Aleppo. The government army is now headed to Raqqa province.
