Israel vows to work with US on peace efforts

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday he was committed to working with US President Donald Trump to advance peace efforts with the Palestinians and with the broader Arab world.

Netanyahu made the pledge at the annual convention of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), adding that Israel's hand is extended to all of its neighbors in peace. But he repeated his demand that the Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state, something they have refused to do.

Last month, Trump asked Netanyahu to hold off on settlements in the West Back. The public is skeptical about resuming the Middle East peace negotiations, which have been stalled since 2014.
