Italy has a new Prime Minister

Italy's President on Wednesday confirmed Giuseppe Conte as Italy's new prime minister, two days after he was nominated by the alliance between two major parties in Italy, The 5-star movement and The Northern League.

Mr. Conte, 54, told a press conference that he will continue reforms and will maintain close contact with the EU.

The EU is closely monitoring Italy's political situation, worried that the Italian party alliance will undercut the EU's budget discipline and push the Eurozone into a public debt crisis.
