Japan donates one million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam

 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for Japanese Ambassador to Viet Nam Yamada Takio, during which the latter informed that Japanese Government has decided to donate one million COVID-19 vaccine doses to Viet Nam.

The shipment of the vaccine doses produced in Japan is due to arrive in Viet Nam on June 16.

Takio also annonced that Japanese businesses, including 36 enterprises operating in Viet Nam have mobilized VND 39.2 billion to the Southeast Asian country’s COVID-19 vaccine fund, adding that more is expected.

On behalf of the Government and people of Viet Nam, PM Pham extended sincere thanks to Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, the Government and people of Japan for their valuable gift which reflects the friendship and mutual assistance between the two nations during this hard time.

Pham also thanked foreign associations and businesses, including Japanese ones, in Viet Nam for their support for the country’s COVID-19 fight.

He suggested Japanese Government and relevant agencies continue collaborating with Viet Nam in pushing back the pandemic and in transfering vaccine production technology to Viet Nam.

Pham called on the Japanese Government to continue faciliating the export of Vietnaemese goods, including seasonal fruits like lychee, mango, and longan to Japan, while creating favorable conditions for around 450,000 Vietnamese people are living and working in Japan.

Japanese Ambassador Takio reaffirmed the Japanese Government’s strong commitment to cooperate with Viet Nam, adding that Viet Nam remains one of the most attractive investment destinations for Japanese investors./.
