Kremlin confirms preparations for Kim-Putin summit

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Monday confirmed preparations are underway for a historic first summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that the summit could be held at the end of this month before or immediately after President Putin's visit to China.

On Monday, South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha urged the US administration to resolve North Korean nuclear issues through dialogue and negotiations. At a meeting with Minister Kang in Seoul, US senators said Washington and Seoul share a commitment to denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.
