(VOVWORLD) – The COVID-19 pandemic has severely spread to industrial parks and processing zones in multiple provinces, including Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and southern localities, affecting production and workers’ lives.

Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, told VOV how the Confederation has worked to protect workers: “Besides communications to improve workers’ understanding of pandemic prevention and compliance with safe conditions, we have issued Decision 2606 on urgent support for workers affected by the pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of workers have been beneficiaries, particularly COVID-19 patients and workers in lockdown and medical quarantine areas.”

“We have overseen working environment at businesses to ensure safety and production efficiency. Trade Unions at all level have to support businesses and ensure safety for workers. It’s our key task to achieve the government’s goals of pandemic containment and economic development,” said  Mr. Hieu.

Trade Unions at all level will continue to discuss safe production methods and working requirements for workers, particularly companies having many workers living at production sites.
