Labour Market Stable After Tet Holiday

Hanoi: Industrial and export processing zones in major industrial hubs such as Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, and Thai Nguyen in the north, along with Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Dong Nai, and Binh Duong in the south, have experienced a significant return of workers following the Tet holiday, which spans nine days from January 25 to February 2. Many of these zones have reported a return-to-work rate of 97-98%, with some even reaching 100%.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) stated that over 52 million individuals are actively participating in the labour market. This workforce plays a crucial role in maintaining the production and business activities of enterprises and the broader economy. Historically, a portion of the workforce tended to extend their leave, switch jobs, or relocate after Tet, resulting in labour shortages at certain factories and in specific localities.
