Laos dam collapse: Vietnamese residents are safe
All Vietnamese people living in areas affected by a dam collapse in Laos' northern province of Attapeu have been reported as safe.
President of the Vietnamese Association in Attapeu, Vo Van Mung, said affected people have received 2,300 USD, food and other necessities.
Reporters from Vietnam News Agency have arrived in the worst hit area, in the wake of the collapse of the Sepien-Senamnoi hydropower dam. The only route to the Sanamxay district remains inundated. Tens of tons of relief goods are bottle-necked outside of the isolated areas.
The Mekong River Commission reports that date collected from observatories show that the hydropower dam collapse doesn't affect Vietnam.
