Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has announced he was summoned to appear at the country’s anti-graft agency on March 9.

In a Facebook post, Muhyiddin, who was the PM for 17 months between 2020 and 2021, said he has been called into the headquarters of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at 11am on March 9. He also denied a news report that he was arrested on March 7.

On February 16, MACC also questioned Muhyiddin over a contract said to be worth over a 1 billion RM (about 200 million USD), the Star reported. Muhyiddin denied claims that he had awarded the above contract to IRIS Corp Berhad when he was the Prime Minister.

Another investigation by MACC into the Bersatu fund is being finalised, which clarifies allegations that it received about 300 million RM from economic stimulus packages after the COVID-19 pandemic, the newspaper said.

The New Straits Times newspaper, citing a source, reported that MACC found that most of the donors who contributed money to the account of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) of which Muhyiddin is chairman were awarded contracts by the government during his tenure as the PM./.
