Mid-Autumn festival underway in provinces

The Voice of Vietnam and Son La province's Children's House organized a ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the 2019 Mid-Autumn festival, featuring performances by students.

100 scholarships were given to disadvantaged students. Thao Thi Hong Nhung, Director of the Children's House, said: This year, we cooperated with VOV3 and VOV6 to create a Mid-Autumn feast for children. We want to encourage them to study hard as they enter a new school year.

The Zone 2 Coast Guard Command in Quang Nam province visited and gave 60 presents to children in the Rehab for Disabled Children of Phu Ninh district. Many of the children have been affected by Agent Orange dioxin. This year, Quang Nam province gave 6,000 gifts to local disadvantaged children. Nguyen Thuy, Deputy Head of the provincial Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, said that this year, all districts have organized Mid-Autumn festivals for local children. Thuy said: Districts have organized more events to celebrate Mid-Autumn. We used the provincial budget to buy gifts for the children. Child care and child abuse prevention have been promoted. This year, the province takes special care of disadvantaged children, particularly those who are in rehabilitation, under treatment in hospitals, and in remote areas."

In addition to Mid-Autumn cakes, Vinh Long provincial authorities gave bicycles and wheelchairs to disadvantaged children. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen, a student at Phu Quoi secondary school in Long Ho district, said: I am happy to come here and play. I hope this will be organized every year from now on.

Thousands of children and adults gathered in the Nguyen Tat Thanh Square in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, for the 2019 Phan Thiet Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade. The event has been recognized by Vietbooks magazine as Vietnam's Biggest Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade, with 30 giant lanterns made by 2,800 local students.
