Montgomery County, US Seeks Investment Partnership with Vietnam’s Dong Nai

A delegation from Montgomery County in Maryland, US, along with the Vietnam - US Business Council, visited Dong Nai province in southern Vietnam to discuss potential investment and cooperation opportunities.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, during a session with Dong Nai officials on November 6, expressed the US region's interest in establishing bilateral relations with Dong Nai. Elrich highlighted Montgomery County's strengths in industrial development, particularly in biotechnology and information technology, and expressed a desire for US businesses to collaborate with Vietnamese counterparts in production and business ventures.

Elrich also mentioned that Montgomery County offers various programs and policies to support Vietnamese businesses looking to invest and establish companies in the United States. He was impressed by Dong Nai's transportation and urban system, which he saw as an inspiration for long-term cooperation between Montgomery County, US businesses, and Dong Nai.

Nguyen Hong Linh, Secretary of the Dong Nai provincial Party Committee, informed the delegation about the province's industrial development. Dong Nai hosts 32 industrial parks over 10,300 hectares, attracting 1,600 projects valued at nearly 35 billion USD from 45 countries and territories. He noted that US firms are currently operating 30 projects in the locality with a total capital of nearly 270 million USD. Dong Nai has established various international cooperation agreements and associations, including with US states like Arkansas, Virginia, and Oklahoma.

Linh emphasized the significant infrastructure projects underway in Dong Nai, such as Long Thanh International Airport and key highways. These projects, once completed, are expected to significantly boost the local economy and create opportunities for foreign businesses.

The meeting aimed to provide Montgomery County and the US business community with more insights into Dong Nai, fostering investment and human resources training cooperation. The Vietnam - US Business Council stated that the delegation's visit seeks to strengthen US-Vietnam business ties, particularly in sectors where Montgomery has expertise, like science and technology, information technology, and semiconductor chip production.

The Council also pledged to support Dong Nai and Vietnam in education and human resources training, as well as to assist Vietnamese businesses with exporting to the US and navigating immigration issues.

Nguyen Huu Nguyen, Director of the Dong Nai Department of Planning and Investment, emphasized the province's focus on attracting investment in hi-tech projects, semiconductor chip production, supporting industries, new material production, and clean agriculture. Dong Nai offers various preferential and supportive policies and is committed to facilitating US businesses in exploring investment opportunities and conducting business activities in the province.
