More donations raised for COVID-19 fight

The Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi Committee held a ceremony on June 17 to receive donations worth more than VND2 billion (US$86,200), of which, over VND498 million will be earmarked for the fight against the pandemic, and the rest to the COVID-19 vaccine fund. Among outstanding benefactors, the Traphaco Joint Stock Company donated VND500 million (US$21,500); the Plastic Chemicals Joint Stock Company giving VND330 million (US$14,200); the Park City Hanoi urban complex and the Nam Duoc Joint Stock Company supporting VND200 million (US$8,600) each; and others.

 

Addressing the event, Deputy Chairman of the VFF’s Hanoi Committee Nguyen Sy Truong highlighted the important role of the COVID-19 vaccines, considering it a fundamental, long-term, strategic and decisive solution to get rid of the pandemic.

 

He called on organizations and individuals to join hands with the municipal authorities in combating the pandemic.

 

In an effort to reach herd immunity, Hanoi needs around VND2 trillion (US$86.2 million) for the purchase of COVID vaccines, the Front official added, expressing his hope for public support for the effort.

 

He valued the benefactors’ donations, and called for more contributions to the fund so as to administer free vaccines to all people as well as return life to normal.

 

He said that the VFF’s municipal committee committed to using the donations in an open, transparent and lawful manner.

 

Speaking at the fundraising ceremony, Nguyen  Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tracphaco, expressed his hope that the company’s donation will contribute to efforts by the Party, State and Government in the pandemic combat.
