More than 3.6 million COVID-19 cases worldwide

The past 24 hours saw 76,000 new COVID-19 cases and nearly 3,600 deaths. According to worldometers.info, as of Tuesday morning, more than 3.6 million people had been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus and nearly 252,000 of them had died.

The US recorded more than 22,200 new cases Monday, bringing its total to 1.2 million infections and nearly 69,500 deaths.

Russia confirmed more than 10,500 new cases for the second consecutive day, bringing its total to more than 145,200.

Brazil reported 6,000 new cases, while the UK and India each confirmed approximately 4,000 new cases.  

The Malaysian Ministry of Health said Malaysia had 55 new cases, bringing its total to more than 6,300 with 105 deaths.

Indonesia reported 19 more deaths. So far Indonesia has confirmed 864 deaths.

Vietnam has seen no new cases of community transmission for 19 consecutive days.
