National Assembly deputies discuss wildlife protection

National Assembly deputies have stressed the need to complete a wildlife protection law and enhance surveillance to eradicate illegal wildlife trade.

At a recent workshop held by the National Assembly Office in NinhBinh province on Sunday, lawmakers said that Vietnam is the transition hub for trading activities from ASEAN, South America, and Africa to Asian and international markets. Despite efforts by authorities, increasing illegal wildlife trafficking has hurt Vietnam's national economic development and security, threatened bio-diversity, and driven rare and endangered species toward extinction.
