National Assembly improves oversight activities

On Wednesday morning, the second day of its first session, the 15th National Assembly filled several important positions, including NA General Secretary, Chairperson of the Ethnic Council, Chairpersons of the NA committees, and Auditor General of the State Audit Office.

The election results were approved by the National Assembly by a majority vote. The National Assembly has completed the process of filling 19 leadership positions.

The National Assembly then discussed its oversight program in 2022. Deputy Tran Hoang Ngan from Ho Chi Minh City said that due to the long-term risks the COVID-19 pandemic poses to society, the National Assembly’s oversight activities should include open scenarios and quickly arrange personnel, mechanism, and process for each oversight delegation.
Deputies said topics to be monitored should be carefully chosen and more focus should be placed on post-monitoring issues. They raised the idea of monitoring the implementation of legal policies in the management of public assets in state enterprises and public non-business units.
On Wednesday afternoon the National Assembly discussed a draft resolution on the law and ordinance building program for 2022, and adjustments to the law and ordinance building program for 2021.
