National elections reviewed

(VOVWORLD) – National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has described elections of deputies to the 15th legislature and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure as a huge success. He made this statement while chairing a nationwide teleconference in Hanoi on Thursday to review the elections.

Hue, who is also Chairman of the National Election Council (NEC), called the elections Vietnam’s phenomenal political event and hailed its democracy, fairness, lawfulness, safety, and thriftiness.

He noted lessons learned from the elections including promoting national unity, engaging the whole political system in the election, strengthening communications. Hue said, ‘It’s important to well prepare personnel for the election, focusing on consultative meetings, selection and nomination of candidates, collection of voters’ comments, and campaigning to have qualified candidates for the election. We need to ensure capability of election teams which should comprise capable, wholehearted, and responsible members and those who well understand election law and have experience. We need to ensure principles in casting ballots and counting ballots.’

Vietnam has made numerous achievements during the last 75 years since it gained independence and 35 years of “Doi Moi” (national renewal). The 13th National Party Congress was a success, too, Hue said, adding that it set out targets, directions, and tasks for Vietnam’s development until 2030 with a vision to 2045.

At the meeting, Chairman Hue urged participants to study thoroughly their handouts, review the organization of elections in their locality, and contribute ideas to improving future elections.
