Nearly 6 billion USD allocated to support ethnic minority and mountainous areas

The National Assembly has approved nearly 6 billion USD for the national target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas from now until 2025, according to National Assembly Vice Chairman  Tran Thanh Man. Mr. Man told a conference in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang on Tuesday that the program targets to reduce the number of disadvantaged communes and hamlets by 50% by 2025, with an aim of zero by 2030.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that the allocation of 6 billion USD for the program is expected to create breakthroughs for growth in these areas and preparations should begin as early as this month.
