New NA to convene on July 20

The first session of the 15th National Assembly will begin on July 20, according to the NA Standing Committee’s meeting on Tuesday chaired by NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue. The session will focus on personnel work before discussing socio-economic development and other issues.

Regarding the Government’s performance in the first half of this year, Standing Committee members said the Government has done a good job in fighting COVID-19 while maintaining economic growth. But more should be done to help businesses and people affected by the pandemic, according to NA Vice Chairman Do Ba Ty.

“We need to further evaluate the effectiveness of the Government’s 2.6 billion USD package to support those affected by COVID-19. Reports show that our goals have not been met. We must look into the reasons and find solutions,” said Mr. Ty.

The NA Standing Committee will sit for another meeting to finalise the remaining issues to be debated at the first plenary session of the new NA, including issues related to five-year plans such as those on socio-economic development, budget-finance, and middle-term public investment.
