New technologies optimize management strategies and supply chains

New technologies, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning, will help businesses optimize management strategies and supply chains, thereby increasing sales, according to a seminar on digitalization in the retail industry hosted Wednesday by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). Participants said the COVID-19 pandemic has hastened digitalization in the retail industry which is facing increased competition and increasingly selective customers. Retailers are paying greater attention to multi-channel selling and new sales and payment technologies that target tech-savvy buyers.

VCCI Vice President Hoang Quang Phong said, “New technologies, such as IoT, AR, Big Data, AI, and Machine Learning, are able to offer customers stand-out experiences and remarkable values, thus optimizing management strategies and supply chains to increase sales. The retail market is highly competitive. Whatever the size of a business, how quickly it can transform digitally will be the key factor in its survival.”

Le Duc Trung, Senior Partner Development Manager at Microsoft Vietnam, advised enriching customers’ experience by collecting personal data via AI and Chatbot to cater to their specific needs, providing staff with tools to create a smart supply chain, using high-tech solutions like electronic signatures and electronic receipts, and introducing new high-value-added services.
