North Korea launches missiles: South Korean official

Yonhap News quoted the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea (JCS) as saying that North Korea has fired two projectiles into the sea on Thursday.

A JCS official told AFP that Seoul and Washington are analyzing the incident. He said the projectiles are missiles, the first one flied 430 kilometers and the other traveled a bit further. The Japanese Defense Minister confirmed the firing, saying the projectiles did not reach Japanese waters, calling Pyongyang's move "extremely regrettable".
