North Korean leader meets Chinese Foreign Minister

North Korea-China relations and the situation on the Korean peninsula were discussed at a Friday meeting between North Korea leader Kim Jong-un and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Mr. Kim said Pyongyang is ready to boost traditional ties and friendship with China and prospects of Korean peninsula peace.

Mr. Wang hailed the success of the inter-Korea summit. He said the North's friendly gestures have benefited both countries and paved the way for a political solution to conflict on the peninsula. He said Beijing favors an end to the war and Pyongyang focusing on developing its economy, and is willing to maintain close contact and cooperation with North Korea.
