Northern region braces for cold spell during Tet

A strong cold spell is predicted to hit the northern region starting next Friday, just three days before the Lunar New Year 2022, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. From Friday night (the 26th day of the 12th lunar month) onwards, temperatures will fall sharply to about 15 degrees Celsius, and the strong cold will linger through the Tet holiday, which lasts until February 6, the forecasting centre said.

The National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has issued a document requesting cities and provinces in the northern and central northern region to take prompt actions in response to possible natural disasters during the upcoming Lunar New Year.

The document also asks cities and provinces in the north and north central region to closely monitor warning bulletins, weather forecasts to direct residents to respond to severe cold and heavy rain that may occur in the coming days.
