The Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) by the Benefit Protection Division, Promotion and Regional Insurance Division, OIC Office Region 6 (Chonburi) and OIC Office of Pathum Thani Province immediately went to the scene after a bus with registration number 30-0423 Singburi, carrying students from Wat Khao Phraya Sangkharam School, Uthai Thani Province, on a field trip to Nonthaburi Province, had an accident where it hit the median barrier, causing the bus to catch fire on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Khu Khot Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. Initially, it was found that there were 44 passengers, 23 students and teachers died, and 5 were injured. They also checked insurance information and urgently followed up on damage reports through the platform for reporting group or major accidents electronically. They also went to the area to facilitate insurance for the families of the victims to the fullest extent possible so that the insurance system can help alleviate the suffering of the families of the deceased and injured effectively and fairly. From the initial visit by the Office of the Insurance Commission of Pathum Thani Province, it was found that the bus had compulsory motor insurance (Compulsory Motor Insurance) with Viriyah Insurance Public Company Limited, with the policy starting on June 30, 2024 and ending on June 30, 2025. The coverage includes death or permanent disability of 500,000 baht per person, injury coverage of up to 80,000 baht per person, loss of organs of 200,000-500,000 baht per person, permanent disability of 300,000 baht per person, and in-patient treatment at a hospital of 200 baht per day, not exceeding 20 days. Also, I have voluntary car insurance, Type 3, with Mitra Tae Insurance Public Company Limited. The policy starts on June 30, 2024 and ends on June 30, 2025. It covers damage to life, body or health of third parties at 500,000 baht per person, 10,000,000 baht per incident, property liability at 600,000 baht per incident, including personal accident coverage according to the policy appendix. In the event of death, loss of organs, or disability of the driver at 50,000 baht, 40 passengers at 50,000 baht per person, and medical expenses at 50,000 baht per person. The driver's bail is 300,000 baht per incident. For the compensation tracking for the families of the deceased from this incident, the initial investigation is underway by the officers. However, in this accident, the legal heirs of the accident victims in the event of death will receive compensation from the Compulsory Motor Insurance, with an average payment of no more than 10,000,000 baht per incident, and voluntary motor insurance, Type 3, covering damage to life, body, or health of third parties, with an average payment of no more than 10,000,000 baht per incident. In this regard, we have been contacted by Mitra Tae Insuran ce Public Company Limited, which intends to pay compensation exceeding the coverage amount to help victims as a special case. In addition, Wat Khao Phraya Sangkharam School, Uthai Thani Province has purchased group accident insurance for educational institutions with Viriyah Insurance Public Company Limited. The policy starts on May 15, 2024 and ends on May 15, 2025. The coverage includes death of 80,000 baht per person and medical expenses of 8,000 baht per person per incident. Most of the deceased were registered in Uthai Thani Province. The Office of the Insurance Commission of Pathum Thani Province has coordinated with the Office of the Insurance Commission of Uthai Thani Province to facilitate insurance and compensation. The insurance company has been initially coordinated. For the injured who are hospitalized, the Office of the Insurance Commission of Pathum Thani Province has coordinated with the insurance company to pay initial compensation for medical expenses from the Compulsory Motor Insurance Ac t coverage of 30,000 baht per person. In addition, the Office of the Insurance Commission is integrating with the Thai Life Assurance Association and the Thai General Insurance Association to check whether the victims or deceased in this incident have additional insurance beyond this. If it is found that they have insurance, they will receive all rights according to the insurance contract.
