Origin fraud prevention tops NA session

National Assembly (NA) deputies on Thursday continued questioning Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan, and Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.

The deputies asked Minister Anh about the management and regulation of electricity; the planning and development of renewable energy; the promotion and expansion of foreign markets; e-commerce and the digital economy; and the localization of industrial products and technological innovation.

Mr. Anh said Vietnam has integrated deeply into the global market. He said trade agreements and preferential export tariffs give Vietnam a market advantage and enhance Vietnam's export competitiveness. In order to keep products fraudulently labeled as Vietnamese from enjoying preferential tariffs, Anh said, the Prime Minister has approved a plan to fight origin and other trade fraud and illegal investment conveyance. Anh said: "The government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are working with agencies and organizations to combat origin and other trade fraud, which harms Vietnam's prestige and economy."
