Party chief concludes official visits to Russia, Hungary
Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong on Tuesday concluded his official visits to Russia and Hungary at the invitations of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
During his stay in Russia, Mr. Trong held talks with President Putin and met with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, and Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia Andrey Turchak.
In the talks and meetings, both sides agreed to do their utmost to develop the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership more effectively. They exchanged opinions on several regional and global issues of mutual concern, and shared a similar point of view on the necessity to solve disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law and the UN Charter without using or threatening to use force.
They also reached consensus on coordination in organizing the Russia Year in Vietnam and the Vietnam Year in Russia in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Basic Principles for Vietnam-Russia Friendship next year and the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2020.
