Party chief starts State visit to Myanmar

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong arrived in Nay Pyi Taw International Airport on August 24, starting his State visit to Myanmar at the invitation of President Htin Kyaw.

Myanmar's Minister of Transport and Communications Thant Sin Maung and other Myanmar officials welcomed the Vietnamese Party chief at the airport.

This is the first visit of a Vietnamese Party General Secretary to Myanmar after the visit of former Party General Secretary Do Muoi in 1997.

The visit is aimed at establishing a more specific cooperation framework, identifying orientations and creating breakthroughs in the cooperative relationship in the fields of trade, investment, security and defense between the two countries.
