Party leader meets with Myanmar business representatives

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on August 26 met with representatives of Myanmar's top businesses as part of his three-day State visit to Myanmar.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh and Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai also attended the meeting.

Speaking at the event, Deputy PM, FM Minh said Viet Nam gained great achievements after 30 years of innovation and became a middle-income country with stable society and rising prestige and position in the world.

As a developing country, Viet Nam attaches importance to cooperation with and assistance from foreign partners, said Deputy PM, FM Minh.

Over the past years, economic, trade and investment ties between Viet Nam and Myanmar have been strengthened and Viet Nam is the 9th biggest trade partner and the 7th biggest investor (59 projects worth US$1.42 billion) in Myanmar, according to the Vietnamese official.

Deputy PM, FM Minh said Viet Nam is accelerating reform of administrative procedures and creating more favorable legal environment in support of foreign investment.

As the two countries have established comprehensive cooperative partnership, Deputy PM, FM Minh suggested both sides should set up consideration of cooperative mechanisms to facilitate reciprocal investment in each country.

He asked the Myanmar side to continue improving investment climate to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese to invest in the country in a bid to realize the newly-established partnership framework.
