The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has approved the Peppercorn Development Plan till 2020, with a vision to 2030 aiming to increase productivity and value of peppercorn to meet export demands.

The nation expects to maintain the total peppercorn growing area of around 50,000 ha, and harvest 3,000 per ha and 140,000 tons in output with high-quality products accounting for 90%.

The MARD has raised the need to enhance trade promotion and advertisement of trade mark of Vietnamese peppercorn.

Accordingly, exporters are advised to exploit traditional markets and explore potential markets such as the EU, the US and Japan as well as new markets of the Middle East and Africa.
