Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party has agreed to propose a draft of the Amnesty Act, aiming to foster unity, and has appointed 'Chusak' to draft the legislation. 'Wisut' has reiterated that the proposed amnesty will not include cases under Sections 110-112, emphasizing the potential repercussions and inevitable rejection for any proposals including these sections. According to Thai News Agency, during the weekly Pheu Thai MP meeting, many MPs voiced their concerns about the voting process regarding the observations of the special committee studying the guidelines for the amnesty bill. This caused confusion as the Pheu Thai Party had not previously voted to approve such observations, highlighting that it was the MPs' prerogative to vote. Mr. Noppadol Pattama, a Pheu Thai Party-list MP, stressed the importance of a clear resolution from the party on matters like the amnesty bill proposal, noting the existence of four bills already in parliament. He proposed that the party should play an active role in proposing its own amnesty bill to promote national reconciliation and unity, excluding cases under Sections 110 and 112. Mr. Wisut Chainarun, MP and chairman of the MPs, suggested that a vote be conducted on this matter. The MPs unanimously supported the proposal for Pheu Thai Party to draft the amnesty bill, excluding offenses under Sections 110 and 112. Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, was tasked with drafting and submitting the legislation. Following the meeting, Mr. Wisut stated in an interview that the Pheu Thai Party MPs unanimously agreed to propose the Amnesty Bill in the name of the party during the next parliamentary session, to accompany the four existing Amnesty Bills in parliament. The draft will be primarily based on the report from the Special Committee to Study the Amnesty Bill's Guidelines. However, it will explicitly exclude amnesty for Sections 110 and 112 cases, as no political party currently supports amnesty for Section 112. Proposing it would lead to rejection. The Pheu Thai Party has consistently maintained that they seek amnesty for political cases, not for Section 112 offenses, thereby upholding their previous stance. Source: Thai News Agency
