PM asks for further cooperation between VN, Japanese legislative bodies

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed the Japanese National Diet enhance cooperation in labor and locality-to-locality exchanges with Viet Nam, and continue to support the standpoint of ASEAN and Viet Nam on the East Sea issue.

The PM made that statement at his meeting with President of the House of Councilors of Japan Date Chuichi on June 6 under the framework of his official visit to Japan.

The two sides applauded the comprehensive development in Viet Nam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership, especially regular visits made by their high-ranking leaders over the recent time.

The Vietnamese PM hailed the contribution of the Japanese House of Councilors and the President in accelerating the two nations' cooperative relations in fields of economics, investment, people-to-people exchanges and providing Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam, asserting that Viet Nam respects and uses the ODA effectively.

He supposed that the two nations' parliaments need to uphold its supervision roles, urging the two Governments to actively realize inked agreements, contributing to deepening their relationship as well as asking the two sides to expand cooperation between their two legislative bodies, strengthening information and experience exchanges.

The PM required the two sides promote coordination at international and regional inter-parliamentary forums, especially at the Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) in January next year.

President Date Chuichi highlighted the success of the Viet Nam investment promotion meeting organized on June 5 with the participation of the two nations' PMs and more than 1,600 businesses, highly valuing Viet Nam's economic development over the recent years and confirming to advocate the Japanese Government continuing support for Viet Nam in its socio-economic development.

He expected that the Vietnamese Government will improve the business and investment environment to encourage more Japanese investment in Viet Nam, including activities of the small and medium-sized enterprises.

At the meeting, the two leaders consented to strengthen cooperation in culture, local and people-to-people exchanges on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties by 2018.
