PM calls journalists’ mission glorious but extremely arduous

 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Sunday that Vietnam’s revolutionary press has been associated with national defense and development, and the mission of journalists is meaningful, proud, and glorious but also extremely arduous. Mr. Chinh made the statement at a meeting with press agencies in Hanoi on Sunday to mark the 96th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, June 21.

He said, “The history of resistance wars for national independence saw thousands of journalists marching to the battlefields with patriotism, revolutionary spirit, ingenuity, and the courage of soldiers to provide timely information about the war, faith, national pride, and hope of victory and national reunification to compatriots and soldiers nationwide.”

He added, “Hundreds of journalists heroically laid down their lives on the battlefields and many are resting forever with their fallen comrades across all parts of the country. History will never forget the great merits and sacrifices of journalists.”

Prime Minister Chinh said that the press plays an extremely important role in implementing the Party’s leadership, connecting the Government and the people, and spreading, inspiring, and motivating positivity and beauty to built a better society.
