PM inspects COVID-19 treatment in Tay Ninh and Long An

 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday visited medical staff and patients at Tay Ninh Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital and Tay Ninh Center for Disease Control.

At Tay Ninh Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital, which is treating 42 COVID-19 patients with stable health, the Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government, praised the efforts and sacrifices of the hospital staff.

He urged Tay Ninh to have a plan to prevent pandemic from spreading to the team of doctors and to the residential areas as well as strictly comply with pandemic prevention and control regulations of the hospital and the Ministry of Health. He stressed the need to provide medical examination and treatment, care for the patients’ mental health, and combine medicine, science, sociology, and psychology in disease treatment.

Prime Minister Chinh asked for greater efforts to continue to overcome hardships, take good care of the patient both physically and mentally, and do not let the patients die. The current anti-pandemic work is unprecedented, so it must be done while continuously learning from experience, he said.

On Sunday morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Tay Ninh Center for Disease Control.

Tay Ninh province has confirmed 186 COVID-19 cases, including 154 imported cases and 27 community cases. 40 cases have recovered and 1 died.

Working with Tay Ninh leaders, the Prime Minister listened to a report on the province’s socio-economic development. The report said that in the first 6 months of 2021, most basic socio-economic indicators have met or exceeded plans, GDP increased 7%, exports increased 67%, budget revenue reached 54% of the estimate. National defense and security were maintained, and foreign relations strengthened.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the dual tasks of fighting COVID-19 and developing economy.

“Efforts should be made to defeat the pandemic, prevent it from spreading to the communities and factories. We must tighten control of border gates, quarantine areas, people coming back from pandemic areas, quarantined people and  lockdown areas. In factories where production is underway, we must do three things on the spot: work on the spot, eat on the spot and fight the pandemic on the spot. This mission must be clear. If it’s not safe, production should stop,” he said.

Shortly after the meeting, the Prime Minister inspected the pandemic prevention and control at Moc Bai International Border Gate. He acknowledged sacrifices and lauded achievements of the border guard, customs, health care and quarantine forces. Prime Minister Chinh urged the forces to firmly protect national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and maintain security and order, contain pandemic, develop the external economy, and boost exports of Vietnamese goods. He called for maintaining a peaceful environment for national development and consolidating the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia.

During Saturday evening’s working session with the People’s Committee of Long An province on COVID-19 response, the Prime Minister asked Long An to summarize and replicate good models and good practices in disease prevention and control, socio-economic development, and maintenance of security and order.

Long An must focus on the number one priority of pandemic prevention and only safe areas are qualified for developing production and business, the Prime Minister said and asked to immediately help people, especially lottery ticket sellers, freelancers and street vendors.

Also on Saturday evening, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected pandemic prevention and control in Long An and the operations of a number of enterprises in the province.
