PM Pham Minh Chinh says combating drug crimes and abuse remains difficult and dangerous

Drug and drug crimes have become a great danger to humanity and its economic, cultural, social, security, and defense consequences are serious, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said at an online national conference held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi on Friday. The meeting reviewed results of drug prevention and control activities over the past and proposed specific directions, solutions, and tasks for the future.

PM Chinh said drugs are damaging people’s health, creating new types of crimes, and threatening national stability and prosperity.

To improve drug prevention and control, Mr. Chinh asked ministries, agencies, and localities to continue to review, amend, and supplement the relevant legal documents to create a comprehensive legal base.

He underscored the importance of strengthening international cooperation, especially with bordering countries and countries with long experience in drug prevention and control.
