Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked that the transfer of vaccine production technology and the production of a home-grown COVID-19 vaccine be speeded up, so that Vietnam will be able to produce COVID-19 vaccines no later than June 2022. During recent working sessions with producers of vaccines, biological products, and medical supplies, Mr. Chinh noted that vaccine evaluation must strictly comply with WHO guidelines.

He asked the Health Ministry and relevant agencies to draft a plan for technology transfer, and research and production of a COVID-19 vaccine; to work closely with the WHO on procedures for certifying vaccines; and to adopt policies that support vaccine research, technology transfer, and production.
