PM: Vietnam treasures ties with Belgium

Vietnam always treasures its ties with Belgium, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a reception on Sunday for new Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van Den Bossche. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that during his tenure, the Ambassador would contribute to furthering bilateral friendship and cooperation as the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties and 5th anniversary of Strategic Partnership in agriculture in 2023.

The Prime Minister asked Belgium to create conditions for Vietnamese agricultural products to enter the Belgian market and for closer cooperation between the two countries’ businesses with opportunities created by the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement. He proposed Belgium urge the European Commission to remove IUU yellow card imposed on Vietnamese seafood products.

Mr. Chinh called on the two countries to further cooperation and mutual support at multilateral forums and international organizations.

Ambassador  Karl Van Den Bossche said Belgium attached special importance to cooperation and friendship with Vietnam, applauded Vietnam’s achievements and growing status in the region and the world.

He promised to do his utmost to further bilateral ties.
