Pompeo says US willing to sign peace agreement with Taliban

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Friday said the US remains willing to sign an Afghanistan peace agreement with the Taliban despite recent attacks launched by the militant group.

US Defense Secretary Mark Esper on Wednesday briefed European allies on an emerging peace deal with the Taliban, but cautioned that no final deal has been sealed to end the longest war in American history.

The Taliban has rejected calls for a ceasefire and talks with the Afghan government.
