President Nguyen Xuan Phuc begins official visit to Russia

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Vnukovo International Airport in Moscow on Monday to begin an official visit to Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin. A welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese State leader and his entourage was held at the airport, with the participation of the Deputy Minister and other officials of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi.

During the visit, President Phuc is scheduled to meet with leaders of the Russian State and the State Duma, and the Security Council of the Russian Federation. He will also meet with representatives from Russia-Vietnam friendship organisations, attend a Vietnam-Russia business forum, and visit local firms. President Phuc is scheduled to meet with the President of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and receive representatives of Russia’s Veterans Association, and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association.

He will also attend a ceremony to announce the opening of direct flights between Hanoi and Moscow, visit the Zarubezneft Company, meet Russian leaders from the Russian-Vietnamese Joint Venture Vietsovpetro on its 40th founding anniversary, and visit embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in Russia.

The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks with Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on November 30. The two leaders are expected to discuss current issues of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in politics and cooperation in trade, economics, engineering military, science, and technology.

Multiple Russian newspapers have reported that President Phuc’s visit will deepen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
